Canon John E. Speers from his Ordination
With Sincere Thanks
From The Barrie Examiner
May 8, 2012

The family of the late Canon John Speers wishes to thank the Barrie community for all the loving support and kindness shown to our father during his recent illness, and for the great outpouring of sympathy and love shown to us in his passing. We appreciate your prayers, cards, gifts of food and flowers, and generous donations in Dad's memory to Hospice Simcoe and the Leprosy Mission. We will always be deeply grateful to the loving, caring staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe who made Dad's last two weeks so peaceful and serene. Hospice Simcoe is indeed a little piece of heaven in our midst. We thank especially the Steckley Gooderham Funeral Home for the arrangements and visitation; Trinity Anglican Church for the wonderful funeral service and reception; Trinity Church Choir for their beautiful music; and the Rev. Elizabeth Green of St. Giles for her pastoral care of Dad and our family through these difficult weeks. We will always treasure the stories and remembrances of Dad shared with us by so many, and the love that shone forth at his requiem.

I now say goodbye to you Grandma; I hope that you have found Grandpa in the clouds and that you may rest peacefully knowing you are loved by many.

With sincere thanks, Shelagh, Maureen, Michael and the Gunder and Doherty families.
