Community Events

Full Bellies = Happy Hearts Campaign

The Salvation Army Barrie Bayside Mission Centre provides the community homecooked lunch and dinner meals every day of the week, every week of the year. This program is critical in meeting the needs of our community members who are faced daily with food insecurity. In 2022, The Mission provided 156,379 meals to the City of Barrie and the surrounding communities. With the skyrocketing cost of food and everyday essentials, the number of people turning to them for meals is rapidly increasing. Providing a hot meal to a member of our community that is struggling with this basic need, warms our heart and it can warm your heart as well. Currently we are preparing an average of 150 lunches and 400 dinners every day. We are asking businesses, individuals and organizations to please consider taking part in this sponsorship initiative. We ask you to consider sponsoring a meal or several meals. 1 meal = $5; 150 meals (average lunch) = $750; 400 meals (average dinner) = $2,000. Let’s show love to many in our community by helping us to fill bellies with warm, healthy meals. Contact Kelli Kane at 705-728-3737 x259 or kelli.kane@salvationarmy.ca about sponsoring meals today.

Messy Church

What is Messy Church at St. Margaret’s? It is an enriched children and family program of Christian Education. It is an introduction to the greatest parables and stories of Jesus and the Bible that teach the values of love, truth and justice as well as the belief in God Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer.

This happens with the supportive presence of parents or grandparents or other adult. It is interactive with lots of fun and creativity. Because we meet once a month from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on a Saturday, we have time for story, drama, prayer, song, and themed crafts along with a family supper prepared especially for the occasion.
